21 July meet: History talk about Old Southwark in the Blitz

Right ladies, it’s time to get a bit academic for our July meet!

Neil Bright – a specialist in London’s wartime history and  co-founder of Blitz walkers – will give a really interesting,  colourful talk about the local area with black and white  photographs.

There are so many key locations in SE1 that were affected  during the Blitz – from Southwark Cathedral to Guys  Hospital, Borough High Street to Union Street, Blackfriars  Road to The Cut. It will undoubtably give us all a different  perspective on buildings we all walk past every day.

Tea and cake will be served as usual. This month we are asking for donations in aid of our Belles’ efforts in a charity mountain climb and half marathon!

Usual time, usual place: Third Weds of the month from 7.30 – 9.30pm (doors open at 7.15pm) in the basement room of Borough Welsh Chapel, 90 Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 0EX. Guests pay £3.

Look forward to seeing you all on 21 July!
