19th January 2011 – Girl with a One Track Mind

We have an exciting meeting for you in January!  We have Zoe Margolis, author of the award winning Girl with a One Track Mind blog and books coming to speak to us, answer your questions and hopefully spark some debate!

Choosing to write under a pseudonym for privacy reasons, Zoe was forcibly unmasked by a Sunday newspaper, and now writes extensively, mainly around blogging, tech, feminism and sex, as well as working for an ambassador for the young person’s sexual health charity Brook, forcing debate on sexual health and trying to address the double standards that exist around sex, especially for young women.

So, if you’ve ever wondered what leads someone to document their lives so freely or what it feels like to be doorstepped by photographers and reporters, come along. It promises to be an interesting and lively evening of debate!

Usual time, usual place: Third Weds of the month from 7.30 – 9.30pm (doors open at 7.15pm) in the basement room of Borough Welsh Chapel, 90 Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 0EX. Guests pay £3.

  1. I went along to this last night (the 19th January 2011) and I just want to say how fantastic Zoe was. Very honest and open and I loved that she gave us plenty of time for questions. Some of which were fairly probing and personal and she didn’t hesitate to answer. An intersting insight into what it’s like to wake up and find 30 odd photographers camped on your doorstep.
    Thank you Borough Belles!

    • Thanks for the feedback Lisa-Anne, lots of people were talking about it afterwards and I’m sure Zoe will be pleased to hear how much people enjoyed it! She was a fantastic speaker, and you guys came up with some really interesting and thoughtful questions for her! It really was an eye-opener! Cathx
