1. Jo and Jess are two Boobettes from the charity CoppaFeel and are coming to talk to us about breast cancer and the importance of self-examination, even at en early age. Boobettes are described as the Power Rangers of the Boob World on the CoppaFeel website and are a group of young women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 35 or have had a breast cancer scare at a young age. Using their stories, they inspire other people to think differently about their lives and bodies, educating about the importance of getting to know your boobs now and making it a life-long habit. CoppaFeel aims to stamp out late detection and misdiagnosis of breast cancer by ensuring that women know the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and building confidence in women to seek medical referral if they detect any changes.
2. Rose Fulbright is setting up her own luxury British-made lingerie label. Rose studied fashion design at the Parsons School of Design, Paris, before studying Costume Design at the London College of Fashion. Rose takes inspiration from lingerie designs from the 1930s and will be coming to talk to us about underwear history as well as give us an insight into what it is like to set up your own lingerie company.
3. Celia from the BBWI committee. Not only is Celia the longest serving member of the committee, she is also a radiographer extraordinaire! Celia will talk to us about us about her experience on the other side of the scanner.
Not only do we have these fantastic speakers, we will also have the usual tea and cake. Don’t forget that we will have a collection for a local foodbank in Waterloo. Do bring any spare tins to donate to a very worthy cause.
