SOS High Streets Campaign

IMG_2744

We have been thinking about how we can support the High Street SOS resolution that was voted on at NFWI AGM this year.  The aim of the campaign is to ask every WI to celebrate and support our local high streets in whatever way is appropriate for our local areas.

Across Borough we have quite a range of different high streets – East Street market, Elephant and Castle, Borough market and Bermondsey Street to name a few. Our local traders, social and community spaces are important whether shops, local markets, cafes, services and help to make SE1 a vibrant place to live. We have always tried to involve local businesses in to our meetings and plan social activities as much as possible in the local area but am sure there is more we can do lend our support.  What do you think we should do to make our high streets brilliant?

Over the course of the next few months we will share ideas from across Borough Belles on the blog and in our meetings so do let us know if there is a really fantastic local shop or service that you like us to mention.  Similarly if you are a local trader and would like to come and talk to us, please get in touch by emailing us Boroughbelleswi@gmail.com.

Oh, and also I went on Channel 5 news to talk about the campaign which you can watch below:
